Mr. Ng Chi HonG
Mr. Ng is a passionate Biology teacher. Before joining the SPC family, he worked in a state key lab studying marine pollution. Mr. Ng is curious to experience what it is like to teach here at our College, with its positive learning environment and prestigious reputation.
Mr. Ng is fascinated by understanding phenomena that are closely related to our daily lives. He hopes to share his passion for Biology and explain abstract scientific concepts to students by relating textbook knowledge to fun facts like the intricate mechanisms of living organisms.
Although academic performance is important, Mr. Ng puts personality and integrity above it, believing that only these virtues can shape and define one’s character. “A good teacher should not only equip students with exam skills, but also teach them manners and respect,” Mr. Ng concludes.
Mr. Ho Lok Hang
Mr. Ho used to be a peer counsellor at another school, but he felt the need to help students in a different way, deciding to become a teacher of Chemistry, which is one of his favourite subjects. Instead of spoon-feeding, he believes in letting students discover the joy of learning for themselves. For this reason, he aims to create a lighthearted and interactive learning environment.
“My first impression about SPC is that the boys are generally smart and energetic. Naturally, not all of them are the brightest in studying, but they still put in their whole effort,” he said. He highlighted that his priority is not students' achievements, but rather their level of effort.
Apart from teaching, he takes part in various activities to unwind from the daily hustle and bustle. He is fond of sampling different types of coffee, notably sour beans, which he describes as having a delightful fruity flavour and aroma. He sometimes indulges
in playing video games like League of Legends and Starfield.
Mr. Choi Chi Kwan
Mr. Choi realised that delving deeper into the realm of biology wasn’t enough; he had to share his passion for learning with young people. This sense of mission prompted his decision to become a teacher, imparting precious knowledge to students. He has been thoroughly impressed by the accomplishments of our graduates and the pioneering curricula of our College.
Mr. Choi was fascinated with biology when he learnt about the mutual coexistence of molecules inside organisms. Even before studying it at university, he had been keen on molecular biology. When asked about his interest in DNA, he replied, “DNA contains billions of nucleotides. It's like a data field where you need to apply knowledge from computer science to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject.” Speaking of which, Mr Choi expressed his expectations for students to develop a broad interest in different fields of studies.
The value Mr. Choi places above all in his students is responsibility. He expects them to not only complete their work on time but also excel in every assignment. If every student has a strong sense of responsibility, then everyone can perform well in different subjects, or in essential tasks in their daily life. Mr. Choi sees every student as a unique individual with their own thoughts on different topics, and he is more than happy to listen to these ideas.
Recently, Mr. Choi has taken up watching basketball games, despite being new to the sport. Whether you’re a basketball fan or a future biologist, feel free to talk to Mr Choi when you see him on campus!
